What does the follower say when the imam says, "Allah hears the one who praises Him"?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Praise be to Allah. May Allah reward you, O honorable Shaykh. I wanted to ask you a question: When the imam says, "Allah hears the one who praises Him," does the follower say, "Our Lord, to You is praise," or does he say, "Allah hears the one who praises Him"?

The Shaykh : When the imam says, "Allah hears the one who praises Him," the follower does not say, "Allah hears the one who praises Him."

The questioner : But in the book *The Description of the Prophet's Prayer*.

The Shaykh : Because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The imam was made to be followed, so when he says the takbir, say the takbir, and when he bows, bow, and when he prostrates, prostrate, and when he says, "Allah hears the one who praises Him," say, "Our Lord, to You is praise." إنما جعل الإمام ليؤتم به، فإذا كبر فكبروا، وإذا ركع فاركعوا، وإذا سجد فاسجدوا، وإذا قال: سمع الله لمن حمده فقولوا: ربنا ولك الحمد
Sunan ad-Darimi 2:122
He said: When he says the takbir, say the takbir, and when he says, "Allah hears the one who praises Him," say, "Our Lord, to You is praise." So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) distinguished between the takbir and the tasmi' (saying "Allah hears the one who praises Him"). For the takbir, we say what he says, but for the tasmi', we do not say what he says. Because his saying:
and when he says: 'Sami' Allahu liman hamidah (Allah hears the one who praises Him)' then say: 'Rabbana wa lakal-hamd (Our Lord, and to You be the praise).' وإذا قال: سمع الله لمن حمده فقولوا: ربنا ولك الحمد
Sunan an-Nasa'i 1061Sahih (Darussalam)

And whoever among the scholars says that he should say, "Allah hears the one who praises Him," and also say, "Our Lord, to You is praise," has erred. The errors of scholars are innumerable, and no one accepts their saying absolutely, nor rejects their saying absolutely, until it is presented to the Book and the Sunnah. And when we present this to the Sunnah, we find the matter as you have heard.
