The questioner : As you know, my Shaykh, the spring break will begin at the end of next month. How wonderful it would be if we encouraged the university students and teachers to engage in calling people to Allah. It is no secret to you the conversations people have in the north and the south. In fact, I remember that a few days ago I gave a ride to a man from one of the villages. I wanted to read some of the short surahs with him, and he recited al-Fatihah but did not recite it well, so I was surprised by him! I said to him: "My brother! When you return to the village, may Allah reward you with good, try to read to the imam of the village." He said: "I am the imam of the village," and he does not even establish al-Fatihah. How wonderful it would be if we encouraged the virtue of calling to Allah. Is it permissible to be occupied with permissible things? We know that in the spring, most people camp in the desert and spend a lot of time in the wilderness. These are permissible things, praise be to Allah, and there is nothing wrong with them. But which is better: does a person camp in these camps and let the time be wasted, or should he be occupied with da'wah during this break? May Allah reward you with good?

The Shaykh : There is no doubt that this is an important direction from the brother, and that is because many people go out to the desert on the days of the spring break for recreation and to enjoy the company of their friends and brothers. This is one of the permissible matters, but people are divided into three categories regarding this outing:
One category earns sin by it, for you find with them instruments of amusement and music, and songs and forbidden games in which evil occurs, and that becomes a calamity for them.
And another category: they spend their time in idle talk and amusement, even if it does not reach the level of prohibition.
And the third category: those who utilize it for calling to Allah. When he remains in his camp, he recites the Book of Allah, reads from books of tafsir and books of hadith, and moves between the camps to call to Allah the Mighty and Majestic, encouraging and warning. And Allah guides many people through his hands. The decisive and intelligent person is, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The clever person ids the one who subjugates his soul, and works for what is after death. And the incapable is the one who follows his desires and merely hopes in Allah. الكيس من دان نفسه وعمل لما بعد الموت، والعاجز من أتبع نفسه هواها وتمنى على الله الأماني
