Explanation of the Book of Ablution, Ghusl, Menstruation, and Tayammum-07a

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Khalid ibn Makhlad narrated to us, saying: Sulayman narrated to us, saying: Yahya ibn Sa'id narrated to me, saying: Bashir ibn Yasar informed me, saying: Suwayd ibn al-Nu'man informed me, saying:
We went out with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in the year of Khaybar. When we reached al-Sahibah, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed the 'Asr prayer for us. When he finished praying, he called for food, but nothing was brought except dried date powder (suquq). We ate and drank. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up for the Maghrib prayer, rinsed his mouth, and then prayed the Maghrib prayer for us without performing wudu.
.

The Shaykh : May Allah send blessings and peace upon him. His statement:
We ate and drank. فأكلنا وشربنا
This is an issue. I think Brother Rashad is not present. The doctors say that it is not good to drink after eating; wait half an hour, then drink. What is your opinion of this view?
The student: ...

The Shaykh : Is it not correct?
The student: Did Ibn al-Qayyim mention it?

The Shaykh : No, Ibn al-Qayyim mentioned drinking during eating, not after eating. He said that it is not good. However, he also said that customs have natures. That is to say, if a person is accustomed to eating a bite and then taking a sip, some people are accustomed to drinking during eating, and it does not harm them if they are accustomed to this. But without a custom, they say one should not drink during eating or after eating; wait. However, I think that the statement of Allah the Exalted:
Eat and drink كلوا واشربوا
indicates that it is permissible to combine eating and drinking, contrary to the view of whom?
The doctors, if this is authentic from them. So we say: eat, and if you are thirsty while you are in the middle of eating, say Bismillah and drink. And when you finish, drink. Most people now, especially those who eat dates, drink milk immediately afterward, and perhaps they drink water. I do not know what Salim says about this.
The student: ...

The Shaykh : Do you mean that we should drink when we eat, or wait half an hour?
The student: ...

The Shaykh : The issue now is whether it is good, or whether it does not harm if a person drinks after eating, or not?
I think that the evidence indicates that it does not harm, and that it may be in the interest to combine eating and drinking.
And here the narrator says:
We ate and drank. أكلنا وشربنا
It appears that the drinking was immediately after the eating.
The point is his statement:
and then led the prayer without repeating the ablution. ثم صلى لنا المغرب ولم يتوضأ
Sahih al-Bukhari 215
meaning he did not perform wudu for the Maghrib prayer.
And in it, as mentioned previously, is the non-obligation of wudu from what touched fire.
