Explanation of the Book of Ablution, the Full Ritual Bath, Menstruation, and Dry Ablution-09b

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Abu Nu'aym narrated to us, saying: Ma'mar ibn Yahya ibn Sam narrated to us, saying: Abu Ja'far narrated to me, saying:
Jabir said to me, "Your cousin's son, al-Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn al-Hanafiyyah, came to me and asked, 'How is the ritual bath performed for major ritual impurity?' I said, 'The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would take three handfuls of water and pour them over his head, then pour water over the rest of his body.' Al-Hasan said to me, 'I am a man with a lot of hair.' I said, 'The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had more hair than you.'"

The Shaykh : Who is Muhammad ibn al-Hanafiyyah? He is Muhammad ibn 'Ali ibn Abi Talib, but he was named after his mother because she was from the captives of the Banu Hanifah. He (may Allah be pleased with him and have mercy on him) was among the best of people in conduct, to the extent that he asked his father, 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), "Who is the best of people?" 'Ali said, "Abu Bakr." He said to him, "Then who is next?" He said, "Then 'Umar ibn al-Khattab." He said, "Then you?" He said, "I am nothing but a man among the Muslims." This authentic narration from 'Ali ibn Abi Talib, with his acknowledgment and admission that Abu Bakr and 'Umar are better than him, was transmitted. Then those who claim to be loyal to 'Ali came and said, "'Ali is better than both of them." This entails lying about him, that he lied, and their claim that he feared for his life is impossible after he had become the caliph. Who would fear anything to the point of being forced to prefer Abu Bakr and 'Umar? He was the caliph.
