Explanation of the Book of Prayer and Its Times-01b

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Yahya ibn Salih narrated to us, saying: Faliha ibn Sulayman narrated to us from Sa'id ibn al-Harith, who said:
We asked Jabir ibn 'Abd Allah about praying in a single garment. He said: I went out with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on one of his journeys. One night, I came to him for some of my business and found him praying in a single garment. I wrapped myself in it and prayed beside him. When he finished, he said, "What is this late-night visit, O Jabir?" I informed him of my need. When I had finished, he said, "What is this wrapping I saw?" I said, "The garment, meaning it was narrow." He said, "If it is wide, wrap it around your shoulders; and if it is narrow, use it as a waistcloth."
.

The Shaykh : May Allah send prayers and peace upon him.
The reciter: Musaddad narrated to us, saying: ...

The Shaykh : This is a story added to the story of Ibn 'Abbas, Ibn Mas'ud, and Hudhayfah regarding the permissibility of praying the night prayer in congregation. It is permissible for people to pray the night prayer in congregation, but on the condition that it not be a regular practice, because if it becomes regular, it departs from the Sunnah. However, if a person does it occasionally and wakes his companion and says, "Pray with me," to encourage him, or if a companion visits him or a guest stays with him and he prays the night prayer with him, there is nothing wrong with any of this.
