The Shaykh : Some jurists have mentioned that it is recommended to face the qiblah during wudu', and they justified this by saying that it is an act of worship, and that in an act of worship, just as a person directs his heart to Allah, he should direct his body toward the House of Allah. Some of them even said: This applies to every act of worship unless there is evidence to the contrary. However, what appears to me from the Sunnah is that it is not prescribed to intentionally face the qiblah when performing wudu', because facing the qiblah is an act of worship. If this had been prescribed, our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would have been the first to legislate it for his Ummah, either by his action or by his statement. And I do not know, up to this moment, that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ever intentionally faced the qiblah when performing his wudu'.
