It is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he performed ghusl after fainting; is this obligatory or recommended?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : It is established from the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) that he performed ghusl after fainting; is this obligatory or recommended?

The Shaykh : Performing ghusl after fainting is not obligatory; rather, it is recommended because it renews the body's vitality and restores to it what was lost due to the panic caused by the fainting. It is not obligatory because this was not established except from the action of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family). The scholars said: What is established by the action of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), and he did it as an act of worship, is prescribed but not obligatory, because it was not accompanied by a command from the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family).

The questioner : This is a female listener from Egypt saying, "O honorable Shaykh."
