If you pass by a walled cemetery, do you greet the deceased, or is it necessary to enter the cemetery?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : If you pass by a walled cemetery, do you greet the deceased, or is it necessary to enter the cemetery?

The Shaykh : I am hesitant on this matter.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Sometimes I say one should greet them, because the cemetery is considered the home of these deceased people. And sometimes I say one should not greet them, because if a person passes by a man’s house and knows that the man is in that same house, he does not greet him until he meets him, enters his house, or stands at his door asking permission. So I am hesitant on this matter. But if one does greet them, I hope there is no harm in it. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah bless you.
