Discussion of Ibn Hazm and his belief regarding the speech of Allah, and the refutation of it

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : This is the statement of Ibn Hazm (may Allah have mercy on him), yes.
The student: ...

The Shaykh : The Furqan is a copy.
This Ibn Hazm was praised at length by the commentator, the Shaykh Ibrahim ibn 'Isa, who gave him great praise. There is no doubt that the man possessed knowledge, much knowledge of the athar, and his book al-Muhalla is among the most comprehensive works. However, he had anomalies in his opinion on many issues.
He (may Allah have mercy on him) said: People do not have one Qur'an, nor two, but rather four, four Qur'ans. How? He explained between them, saying: This is the one that is recited, another is fixed in the script, the third is preserved in our chests, yes, and the fourth is the ancient meaning, yes, just as His knowledge, each of which is referred to as the Qur'an.
The one that is recited, the read one, is called the Qur'an. The read one is called the Qur'an. And the second, the one fixed in the script, if you write it, this written one is called the Qur'an, yes. And the third is the one preserved in our chests, and this is what is in the mind. You are now memorizing the Qur'an, but you have not spoken it or written it; rather, it is fixed in what? In your mind. He says:
" *** These three are the creation of the Most Merciful "
The one that is recited, the second is the written one, and the third is the preserved one, and the fourth is the meaning
" The fourth is the ancient meaning, like His knowledge *** "
This is also called the Qur'an, and the last verse clearly indicates that he followed the path of the Asha'irah, saying: The Qur'an is the ancient meaning in the essence of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), the ancient meaning like His knowledge, like the knowledge of Allah.
" *** Each is referred to as the Qur'an "
So he made the levels of existence, making each of them independent, because a thing has existence in the mind and existence in the external world, so the matter became confused for him, and therefore he said:
" And I think he attempted something for which he did not find *** an expression spoken with clarity "
And this reminds us of the saying of our brother Hidayat Allah " I know the meaning, but I am unable to express it ". Once he was asked and did not give a good answer, so he said, "I know the meaning, but I do not know how to express it." And this happens often, even to everyone. You find him perceiving the meaning but unable to express what he perceives, yes. And this indicates the depth of human thought, that he has reached a thought that the tongue cannot express. So this Ibn Hazm, Ibn al-Qayyim says:
" I think he attempted something for which he did not find *** an expression spoken with clarity "
Meaning he intended something but was unable to express it.
