The Meaning of the Poet's Saying: "And He Brought a Reconciliation Between Two Groups *** Between Whom Were Wars, and They Are Not Peaceful"

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :"And He Brought a Reconciliation Between Two Groups *** Between Whom Were Wars, and They Are Not Peaceful"
He brought a reconciliation between what? Between the Muslims who said that the creation of the world is obligatory, and the philosophers who said that the creation of the world is impossible and that the world is eternal. He said: We want to reconcile you. We say what? It is possible that it is created, but it is not created. It is possible in order to refute the claim of whom? The philosophers. And it is not created in order to refute the claim of the Muslims.
The student: The opposite.

The Shaykh : Okay, he says: It is possible in order to refute the claim of whom? The philosophers. He says: It is not possible. And he says: It is eternal in order to refute the claim of the Muslims. So he says: We will reconcile you. We say: The matter is eternal in order to agree with the philosophers. And we say: It is possible, not obligatory in its eternality, to agree with whom? The Muslims. But Ibn al-Qayyim says:
"And He Brought a Reconciliation Between Two Groups *** Between Whom Were Wars, and They Are Not Peaceful"
There is no peace between them. A fierce war exists between the Muslims and the philosophers. How can he say this: We will reconcile you?
"How Can the Muslims and the Followers *** of the Greeks Be at Peace"
Is it possible that the Muslims, who believe in Allah and that He is the Creator of the universes, can reconcile with the Greeks who say that these universes are eternal, everlasting, and have no Creator? It is not possible. For this reason, he said:
"How Can It Ever Be in Faith" Is that so?
The student: ...

The Shaykh : Yes.
"How Can the Muslims and the Followers *** of the Greeks Be at Peace Ever in Faith" It is not possible for them to reconcile in faith. There is a great difference between them. Then he said:
"And the Sword Is Between the Prophets and Them *** and the War Between Them Is a War of Constant Strife" Meaning: A raging, perpetual war. Is reconciliation possible? No.
