Research on the issue of succession in the past and the future, and that it is of little benefit

The Shaykh : And also, after all this, research into this matter is considered among the superfluous matters of knowledge, unless a person fears for himself that he will believe in a deficiency in Allah. In that case, he must investigate, because the person to whom the issue has not occurred to his mind does not find it difficult. The person to whom it has not occurred to his mind, but the one who reads the scholars' research and fears that if he does not hold the opinion, something of a deficiency in the Creator will occur in his heart, then at that time he must research and investigate. And Allah knows best.
