The Meaning of the Poet's Words: "So if you were asked and said, 'What is this that *** led them to contradict this clear explanation, and for what reason did they not say that He, *** the Exalted, is the One of perpetual goodness'"

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :"So if you were asked", "So if you were asked", did you ask with an open fathah? It appears that "you asked" (with a fathah) is better.
"So if you were asked and said, 'What is this that *** led them to contradict this clear explanation
and for what reason did they not say that He, *** the Exalted, is the One of perpetual goodness
Know then that the people"

So the correct reading is: "So if you were asked," meaning, O addressee, and you said: "What is this that led them to contradict this clear explanation?" The pronoun in "led them" refers to the people of discourse (kalam), among whom are the Asha'irah.
"to contradict this clear explanation
and for what reason did they not say that He, *** the Exalted, is the One of perpetual goodness
Know then that the people"
, this is the answer:
"when they established *** the foundation of discourse, they were blinded to the Qur'an"
Yes, when they began to rely on the science of discourse (kalam) in their beliefs and to judge by intellects that are not truly intellects in reality, but rather intellects that prevent a person from reaching the truth—they are intellects, but they prevent reaching the truth—when they were blinded to the Qur'an and established this discourse, and to the Hadith, he says:
"they were blinded to the Qur'an
and to the Hadith and the requirements of reason, and even *** to the fitrah (innate natural disposition) of the Most Merciful and the proof
and they built their rules upon it, so it compelled *** them, by force, to denial of the divine attributes and invalidity"

This is the calamity: they established their beliefs on what? On discourse (kalam). They established the science of discourse and made it the foundation upon which everything revolves. He says:
"by force, to denial of the divine attributes and invalidity
"Denying the standing of every new occurrence *** with the Lord, fearing the succession of entities"

We say: Every new occurrence does not stand with the Lord, because if we said it stands with the Lord, it would necessitate either the pre-existence of new occurrences or the creation of the Necessary Existent. We say: If we said that new occurrences stand with Him, one of two things would follow: either these new occurrences have no beginning, or Allah would be a receptacle for new occurrences, and all of this is impossible according to them.
"So that blocks for them, in their opinion, *** the affirmation of the Maker of these universes"
It appears we will leave the rest, because it is important for the next lesson. Yes.
