The Shaykh : As for the Jahmiyyah and others, the reality of ta'wil (figurative interpretation) for them is returning to the false meaning that contradicts the apparent meaning of the text.
"And Likewise the Interpretation of the Dream is the Reality of the *** Seen, Not Distortion by Falsehood"
Regarding the interpretation of the dream, when Yusuf raised his parents to the throne and they prostrated to him in submission, what did he say? He said: The meaning of this is its interpretation, meaning the occurrence of this dream. Because the dream in which he saw eleven stars, the sun, and the moon prostrating to him was merely a depiction of what would happen. When the matter occurred and he raised his parents to the throne and they prostrated to him, he said, "This is the interpretation," meaning the realization of what he saw in his dream, witnessed with his own eyes. He says:
"And Likewise the Interpretation of That Which the *** Messengers of Allah Have Informed About from Faith
The Very Reality When You Witness It on the *** Day of Resurrection by Sight and Observation"
The Messengers, peace and blessings be upon them, informed about what will happen on the Day of Resurrection. Yes, so when is its interpretation, which is the occurrence of this informed matter? On the Day of Resurrection, as Allah the Exalted said:[Al-A'raf 7:53] They forgot it before, meaning they abandoned it. It is not the kind of forgetting that is the loss of memory of a known thing, but the intended meaning of "they forgot it" is that they abandoned it. [Al-A'raf 7:53] Allah the Exalted said: [Al-A'raf 7:53]. All right.
