(Explanation of the Prohibition of the Interpretation of the People of Falsehood) So you assigned to the word a meaning other than its meaning with them, by a second terminology, and you applied the word of the Book to it, until*** came to you from that two prohibitions

The Shaykh : And the command of your Lord came, so they lied about Allah. So here there are two lies: the first lie is about the texts, about the word, and the second is about the one who said it.
"Two ugly lies
And following them are two matters uglier than them *** denying the guidance and testifying to falsehood"

It is correct that this led to them denying the truth and exalting what? Falsehood. So they said, for example:
He settled upon the Throne استوى على العرش
It does not mean rising above, so they denied the truth and exalted the false meaning, which is taking control. And we are now explaining these four prohibitions. "He rose above the Throne" — what is the apparent meaning of the word?
The student: Rising above (istiwa')

The Shaykh : That He rose above in a real sense above the Throne. They said the intent of "He rose above the Throne" is that He took control. So they lied about what? About the word. Then, Allah intended by His saying:
He settled upon the Throne استوى على العرش
the real rising above, the elevation above it. And they said that Allah did not intend that, but intended taking control. So they lied about whom?
The student: Upon Allah.

The Shaykh : About Allah. That is two. Third, what followed these two matters: they lied about the truth, which is rising above the Throne, and denied it. Then they affirmed a false meaning, which is taking control. So they lied about the truth and exalted falsehood. For this reason he said:
"And following them are two matters uglier than them *** denying the guidance and testifying to falsehood"
Meaning they testified that He took control and did not rise above.
"For they testify falsely that His intent *** is other than the truth, and that is one of falsity"
Meaning they see that the truth is false and that the intent is other than it. We ask Allah for safety and guidance.
The student: ...
No, tonight there is not...
