The Meaning of the Poet's Statement: "And both agreed that the reality of the literal meaning is negated by explanation, but they differed; for your group, it is never intended at all"

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :"And both agreed that the reality of the literal meaning is negated by explanation
but they differed; for your group, it is never intended at all by explanation"

"It is never", "never" is an extra word, meaning it is not intended
"But for them, its establishment in the mind is intended when it is absent from the literal sense
for that is the benefit of the addressee in their view, and the method of proof is a second matter"

I mean, the difference now between the method of Ibn Sina and the method of these people is that these people say: The reality of the texts is not intended; rather, another meaning is intended. We give you an example regarding the hand. They say that Allah did not intend to establish the hand, but rather intended power and strength. Now, this is the figurative interpretation (ta'wil). Ibn Sina says: He intended the reality of the hand, but He does not have a hand in any sense, nor power, but He mentioned the hand for the purpose of making it easier for minds to understand that Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, has a hand, has hearing, and has sight, but He does not have any of that in any sense; however, He mentioned it for the sake of making it easier to understand.
