Explanation of Ibn al-Qayyim's Alfiyyah-21a
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :"May these sciences be a joy to you, which have been *** reserved for you from the followers of excellence"
This is a form of mockery, and the lam here is for supplication, but it is a mocking supplication. It means: "Congratulations to you on these sciences that were reserved for you from the followers of excellence," meaning from the Companions and those who followed them with excellence. How were these sciences reserved for you when they did not know them?
"Rather, from all their sheikhs, and then you *** attained them after a long time"
Because these religious innovations did not spread except after the passage of the three preferred centuries, but
"And by Allah, they were not reserved for you for an excellence *** that you have over them, O you who are deficient"
You are the people of deficiency, and it is not possible for excellence to be reserved for you and withheld from the Companions and the Followers.
