(The Desire of the People of Falsehood to Distort, Alter, and Conceal the Texts) So he sought to inherit from them the three***, but they rebelled against him with the utmost rebellion, for the wording of the text

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :" So he sought to inherit from them the three *** but they rebelled against him with the utmost rebellion
For the wording of the text is preserved, so what is the *** alteration and concealment possible?
So he sought to alter the meanings, for they are the *** intended by the expression of every tongue "

Now, we have distortion, alteration, and concealment. These people of ta'wil (figurative interpretation) sought to inherit the three. What are the three? Distortion, alteration, and concealment. As for concealment, they cannot do it because this Qur'an is preserved. As for alteration, likewise they cannot do it because the Qur'an is preserved. If they altered a single word from it, the ummah (the Muslim community) would rise up against them. If they were to recite "The Most Merciful settled upon the Throne" and replace "istawa" (settled) with "istawala" (dominated), the ummah would rise up against them, would they not? And if they were to conceal and erase from the mushaf (a written copy of the Qur'an)
The Most Merciful [who is] above the Throne established. الرحمن على العرش استوى
[Taha 20:5]
and all the verses of istiwaa' (rising above the Throne), they would not be able to do that either. So they resorted to distorting the meaning, because they can mislead the people and say that "istawa" means "istawala." He says, he says Ibn al-Qayyim:
" So he sought to inherit from them the three " which are distortion, alteration, and concealment " but they rebelled against him with the utmost rebellion
For the wording of the text is preserved, so what is the *** alteration and concealment possible "

And what remains?
