(A precious piece of advice from Ibn al-Qayyim, and an explanation of his early state, that he was a Sufi and then repented by the hand of Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, and praise of him) O my people, by Allah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :"O my people, by the Great Allah, a piece of advice*** from one who is concerned for you and a brother who helps you"
May Allah reward him with good. He swore that he would give us a piece of advice from one who is concerned, fearful, and a brother who helps and supports in the truth.
"I have tried all of this and fallen into*** those snares, and I was one who soared"
May Allah have mercy on him. Ibn al-Qayyim was in his early state a Sufi innovator, yes, he fell into the snares of the innovators, but whoever Allah wills to guide, Allah makes guidance easy for him, yes, until he would go to seclusion away from people and worship with acts of worship, meaning from the acts of worship of the people of Sufism, yes, so this was his state, may Allah have mercy on him, but he says:
"until the God made it possible for me, by His grace,*** for one whom my hand and tongue cannot repay"
Allah prepared for him one whom his hand and tongue cannot repay, meaning: if I gave him what I gave from my hand and praised him with my tongue as I did, I would not be able to repay him for his kindness to me, yes, so who is he? He says: a scholar, yes.
"A scholar came from the land of Harran, so*** welcome to the one who has come from Harran"
And he is Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah al-Harrani, may Allah have mercy on him. Allah made him easy for Ibn al-Qayyim, and he was guided by his hand, yes, and his saying:
"welcome to the one who has come" this is from the forms of generality, but it is a general statement intended for a specific person, I intend by it Shaykh al-Islam, not everyone who came from Harran. Harran has the Sabians, and it has open sinners, but he intends by this only Shaykh al-Islam.
"So may Allah reward him with what he deserves *** From the Garden of Refuge along with the Pleasure of Allah"
This is from some of the rights of the scholars over their students, that they supplicate to Allah for them. So he supplicated for his Shaykh, and what a Shaykh he was. And we ask Allah the Exalted to reward everyone with what they deserve from the Garden of Refuge with contentment.
"His two hands took my hand" meaning he held my hand.
"and he walked, and he did not let go*** until he showed me the beginning of faith"
The student: and he walked

The Shaykh : Huh?
The student: and he walked.

The Shaykh : Huh?
The student: and he walked.

The Shaykh : Yes.
"His two hands took my hand and he walked, and he did not let go*** until he showed me the beginning of faith"
