And if only hearts were sound *** they would be torn apart with grief over being deprived (Explanation of seizing the opportunity for righteous deeds in this world and urging the standing of the night prayer and the remembrance of Allah the Exalted)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :"And if only hearts were sound *** they would be torn apart with grief over being deprived"
I swear, and it is the truth, by Allah, if only our hearts were sound, they would be torn apart with grief over being deprived. How many hours pass by us while we are deprived of them, unable to benefit from them; they go to waste for Allah. Life and time are more precious than price, more precious than gold, and more precious than silver. If gold and silver were lost, something could come in their place, but if life and time are gone, nothing comes in their place. Once it is gone, it is gone, there is no return
But never will Allah delay a soul when its time has come. And Allah is Acquainted with what you do.
[Al-Munafiqun 63:11]
until, when death comes to one of them, he says, "My Lord, send me back (100) That I might do righteousness in that which I left behind." No!
[Al-Mu'minun 23:99-100]
there is no return
It is only a word he is saying; and behind them is a barrier until the Day they are resurrected.
[Al-Mu'minun 23:100]
if only You would delay me for a brief term so I would give charity and be among the righteous." لَوْلَا أَخَّرْتَنِي إِلَى أَجَلٍ قَرِيبٍ فَأَصَّدَّقَ وَأَكُن مِّنَ الصَّالِحِينَ
[Al-Munafiqun 63:10]
.
You are now in a period of respite. Seize the time. Set aside a portion of the Book of Allah the Mighty and Majestic for yourself. Set aside time for yourself for righteous deeds. Stand in prayer in the last part of the night, even if it is only half an hour before Fajr. Speak to your Lord, supplicate, for He the Exalted descends to the lowest heaven and says:
Is there anyone to invoke Me, so that I may respond to invocation? Is there anyone to ask Me, so that I may grant him his request? Is there anyone seeking My forgiveness, so that I may forgive him?
Sahih al-Bukhari 1145
.
What is it that prevents one from standing in prayer half an hour before Fajr? It is a very simple matter. We ask Allah to have mercy on us with His mercy. We do not stand in prayer for a third of the night or half the night, but is it not possible to stand for just half an hour? We remember Allah in it, we perform wudu, we pray what Allah wills, we perform witr. This is a matter I think is very simple.
Likewise, we make our entire life a remembrance of Allah. For the wise believer is the one who makes his entire life a remembrance of Allah, because in everything before us is a sign of the signs of Allah. So when we remember this thing before us from the signs of Allah, we thereby remember Allah the Mighty and Majestic, we remember Allah. Thus, a person is always remembering Allah the Mighty and Majestic by what he sees of the cosmic signs of Allah, indeed by what he sees of himself and its fluctuations. The heart now, I ask you, are your hearts always on the same wavelength?
No, sometimes in heedlessness, sometimes in turning back, sometimes in remembrance, sometimes in clear life. Sometimes your heart lives a life that you enjoy for a period of time, and you remember it. Perhaps you remember a state in which you stood before Allah the Mighty and Majestic, praying and prostrating, thirty years ago or more, depending on the person's age, because it affected your heart.
So such things should be utilized. They should be utilized and we should not be heedless, for heedlessness is death, hardness of the heart, and death of the heart.
He says:
"And if only hearts were sound *** they would be torn apart with grief over being deprived"
Grief that tears them apart from their deprivation.
