The people are either denying their Lord or denying the realities of faith (Clarifying the reality of the statement of Jahm and al-'Alaf, which is denying the existence of Allah altogether or denying the reality of faith)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And these people, as Ibn al-Qayyim said, are either denying their Lord or denying the realities of faith. That is, if they acknowledge Allah but persist in this statement, they are denying the realities of faith, because there is a difference between the succession which is from the action of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) and the permanence of the Lord (Mighty and Majestic). The Lord remains by Himself, obligatory in His permanence by Himself. And these things are in succession by what? By the action of Allah (Mighty and Majestic). If He willed, He would annihilate them. And their succession also follows one another in terms of the entity: when the fruit is taken, a fruit comes in its place; when the fruit is taken, a fruit comes in its place. And even if the entities, such as humans and houris and the like, remain, they remain by the permanence of Allah. Is that permanence obligatory by reason or permissible by reason?
The student: Permissible.

The Shaykh : Permissible by reason and obligatory by the Shari'ah. It is obligatory by the Shari'ah because we must believe in their permanence. As for by reason, it is possible that Allah destroys them, and Allah knows best.
