The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. The author (may Allah have mercy on him) says: O you who read it
First, "A chapter on the desire of its author for those among the people of knowledge and faith who come to it, that they should be sincere for Allah", meaning they should distance themselves from personal desire, "and judge it by what the evidence and proof necessitate. If he sees truth, he accepts it and praises Allah for it; and if he sees falsehood, he knows it and guides to it". This is the truth: if he sees truth, he accepts it, and if he sees falsehood, he rejects it, but he makes it known so that it may be corrected and he guides to it. He said:
"O you who read it, sit in the seat of the *** trustworthy judge to whom the two litigants have come"
The trustworthy judge, and it is necessary that he possess knowledge, for he does not reach a judgment except through knowledge. If he has knowledge and trustworthiness, he is a trustworthy judge.
