"And for this reason, Allah did not mention that He betrayed those who betrayed Him. So He said, the Exalted: {And if they intend to betray you, they have already betrayed Allah before, so He enabled them to be overcome. And Allah is All-Knowing, Wise}."

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :"And for this reason, Allah did not mention that He betrayed those who betrayed Him", but He mentioned that He deceived those who deceived Him, because betrayal is a description of blame in all cases, since it is treachery in the place of trust, and treachery in the place of trust is blame. This is why one of the signs of hypocrisy is that the hypocrite, when he makes a covenant, betrays it. And for this reason, He did not mention that He betrayed those who betrayed Him. "So He said, the Exalted:
But if they intend to betray you - then they have already betrayed Allah before, and He empowered [you] over them وَإِنْ يُرِيدُوا خِيَانَتَكَ فَقَدْ خَانُوا اللَّهَ مِنْ قَبْلُ فَأَمْكَنَ مِنْهُمْ
[Al-Anfal 8:71]
"
, meaning they intend to betray the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) in what they say and display. They have already betrayed Allah before, and that was through disbelief. So He enabled them to be overcome. "Enabled them to be overcome" means He made the control over them from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). "
And Allah is Knowing and Wise. وَاللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌ
[An-Nisa 4:26]
"
. He did not say they betrayed Allah before so He betrayed them, but rather "He said:
So He enabled them to be overcome فَأَمْكَنَ مِنْهُمْ
"
, because betrayal is a description? Answer: A description of blame in all cases. Yes, because betrayal is deception in the position of trust, and it is a description of blame in all cases.
