The Sixth Principle: It is necessary in affirming the attributes to abandon two great dangers: the first is likening Allah to creation.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :"The Sixth Principle: It is necessary in affirming the attributes to abandon two great dangers" Affirmation is subject to two dangers "the first is likening Allah to creation and the second is asking how an attribute is" Look, it is necessary in affirmation, and he did not say denial of the divine attributes, because denial of the divine attributes does not occur except in negation, and we are speaking about what we affirm for Allah. It is necessary for the one who affirms to abandon two great dangers "the first is likening Allah to creation, and the second is asking how an attribute is" The difference between them is that asking how an attribute is is general, and likening Allah to creation is specific. So every one who likens Allah to creation is one who asks how an attribute is, but not every one who asks how an attribute is is one who likens Allah to creation. Now, if I wanted to describe a house to you and say the attribute of the house is such and such and such, this is asking how an attribute is, because it is an absolute description. But if I said the house is like your house, what is this? This is likening Allah to creation, because it is a restricted description. This is the difference between likening Allah to creation and asking how an attribute is, and we will mention it, if Allah wills.
He said: "As for likening Allah to creation: it is the belief of the one who affirms that what he affirms of the attributes of Allah the Exalted is similar to the attributes of the created beings" Is this found in the Muslim community? Answer: Yes, it is found, it is found in the Muslim community. People liken Allah to creation, may Allah protect us from that. It was even mentioned about some of them that he said, "Ask me about everything, even to the point that I liken it for you, except for the private parts and the beard." Look at the scrupulousness: except for the private parts and the beard, I cannot speak about them, but ask about everything else. This is how al-Safarini transmitted it in his commentary. And whether this is authentic or not, the method of the people of likening Allah to creation is that they liken the Creator to the created, may Allah protect us from that, as if they forgot the saying of Allah Mighty and Majestic:
There is nothing like unto Him ليس كمثله شيء
[Ash-Shuraa 42:11]
Do you know of any similarity to Him?" هل تعلم له سميا
[Maryam 19:65]
Nor is there to Him any equivalent." لم يكن له كفوا أحد
[Al-Ikhlas 112:4]
do not attribute to Allah equalsلا تجعلوا لله أندادا
[Al-Baqarah 2:22]
and the like of these. It is said that the first one to say in likening Allah to creation was Hashan ibn al-Hakam the Twelver Shi'ah, because the Twelver Shi'ah are polytheists. So when he was a polytheist, he said in the similarity of the Creator with the created. But their later followers became the opposite of this; they became Mu'tazilah, completely denying the attributes. Yes. "As for likening Allah to creation: it is the belief of the one who affirms that what he affirms of the attributes of Allah the Exalted is similar to the attributes of the created beings".
