The Question of Takyif and Tamthil in the Chapter of Names and Attributes

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The fifth question of Fatwa No. ( 20722 )
Q 5: What is the difference between takyif and tamthil in the chapter of the names and attributes ?
A 5: The meaning of tamthil and takyif in the chapter of attributes is close, except
tamthil is the belief that the attributes of Allah the Exalted are like the attributes of the created beings, and takyif is the belief that the attributes of Allah the Exalted are of a specific manner or form, even if they are not like the attribute of a created being. So, if a person says, for example, that the hand of Allah the Exalted is like my hand, or like the hand of a specific created being, he has committed tamthil. And if he says that it is of a specific form or shape, without likening it to a specific created being, he has committed takyif. The conclusion is that all of this is invalid and a distortion of the words from their places, whether it is in this meaning or that. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
