"And this is a false belief, by evidence of the hearing and the intellect. As for the hearing: among it is the saying of Allah the Exalted: {There is nothing like unto Him}."

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :"And this is a false belief, by evidence of the hearing and the intellect" We did not say the sense, because Allah is not known by the sense, for He is not seen, Mighty and Majestic. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
And know that you will not see your Lord until you die.
As-Sunan al-Kubra lil-Nasa'i 56:104
.
"As for the hearing: among it is the saying of Allah the Exalted:
There is nothing like unto Him ليس كمثله شيء
[Ash-Shuraa 42:11]
"
This verse passed before us in *al-'Aqidah al-Wasitiyyah*, and we mentioned that the scholars were in disagreement and delved into the derivation of this verse and its meaning. We mentioned that the closest and easiest of the opinions is that of Salih ibn Harun, that the *kaf* is for emphasis, so it is as if the likeness was negated twice, and we are at ease with this.
"And His saying, the Exalted:
Then is He who creates like one who does not create? So will you not be reminded?
[An-Nahl 16:17]
"
The answer: Answer, O people! No, is He who creates, and He is Allah, like he who does not create, and they are the idols? Will you not then remember? "And His saying, the Exalted:
Do you know of any similarity to Him?" هل تعلم له سمياً
[Maryam 19:65]
"
*Samia* means a comparable one. And *hal* here is for the interrogative that means negation. Know, O student, that the interrogative that means negation conveys two things: the negation of what is mentioned, and the challenging of the addressee to refute this negation. Did you understand? So there are two meanings: the negation, and what? The challenge. Unlike the pure negation, which contains only the negation. If the verse were "And Allah is Able over all things, do you know of any who is comparable to Him," it would not be in the strength of
Do you know of any similarity to Him?" هل تعلم له سميا
[Maryam 19:65]
. "And His saying:
Nor is there to Him any equivalent." ولم يكن له كفواً أحد
[Al-Ikhlas 112:4]
"
Meaning, no one is equal to Him, comparable to Him, or similar to Him, Mighty and Majestic.
There is nothing like unto Him, and He is the Hearing, the Seeing.
[Ash-Shuraa 42:11]
.
