"And this is a false belief, by evidence of the hearing and the intellect. As for the hearing: among its proofs is the saying of Allah the Exalted: {And they do not encompass Him in knowledge}."

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : He says: "And this is false by evidence of the hearing and the intellect. As for the hearing: among its proofs is the saying of Allah the Exalted:
but they do not encompass it in knowledge.
[Taha 20:110]
"
To whom does the conjunction refer? To the creatures. And the pronoun in "Him" refers to Allah. So they do not encompass Allah in knowledge, neither in His essence, nor in His attributes, nor in His actions, because a human is too small to encompass the Creator (Mighty and Majestic). " And Allah the Exalted said:
And do not pursue that of which you have no knowledge
[Al-Isra 17:36]
"
"Pursue" means to follow, derived from "al-qafah" (the back), because the follower walks behind the one being followed.
And do not pursue that of which you have no knowledge
[Al-Isra 17:36]
And this, while it pertains to creed and to the rulings of the Shari'ah, pertains even to etiquette and morals. Do not speak about a thing of which you have no knowledge. For this reason, it came in the hadith:
It is enough for a man to prove himself a liar when he goes on narrating whatever he hears.
Riyad as-Salihin 1547
And know that people will criticize you if you pursue that of which you have no knowledge, because the thing will be contrary to what you reported. So strive to be certain and not to rush in transmitting news until you know. "
Indeed, the hearing, the sight and the heart - about all those [one] will be questioned.
[Al-Isra 17:36]
"
What does the hearing ask about? About what is heard. And the sight about what is seen. And the heart, the soul, about what is understood. Everything, for you will be questioned about it. So do not listen to what is not permissible, do not say what is not permissible, do not do what is not permissible, and do not think about what is not permissible. " And it is known that we have no knowledge of the modality of the attributes of Allah the Exalted. Yes, of the modality of the attributes of our Lord.
Because He the Exalted informed us about them but did not inform us about their modality, thus our asking about the modality is pursuing that of which we have no knowledge, and saying what we cannot encompass.
This is evidence of what? Of the hearing.
