And also, we say: What manner do you attribute to the attributes of Allah the Exalted?

The Shaykh :"And also, we say: What manner do you attribute to the attributes of Allah the Exalted?" What manner? For example, His descent to the lowest heaven (Exalted and Majestic is He); what manner do you attribute? How does He descend? Any manner you conceive in your mind, Allah is greater and more exalted than that, whatever the manner you attribute. Allah is greater. As for His rising above the Throne, if you want to describe His rising above the Throne, yes, Allah is greater and more exalted than for you to conceive it in your mind, is that not so? If a person wanted to describe the manner of a king sitting on his throne, the king's throne, he would not be able to describe it accurately if he had not seen it. And it is not possible to compare it to the teacher of the students rising above his chair; it is not possible, because the king's rising above the chair of the Throne, or rather, on the king's chair, is far greater. Likewise, the Lord (Mighty and Majestic) it is not possible for you to attribute a manner to His rising above the Throne, whatever it may be. Then we also say: Any manner you attribute, you are lying in it. This is the decisive, distinguishing point. Any manner you attribute, you are lying. Why? Because you have no knowledge of it. You will be lying in it because you have no knowledge of it. And thus, it is obligatory to refrain from describing the manner by estimation in the mind. The mind is the heart; meaning, do not attribute a manner to the attributes of Allah, just as you do not attribute a manner to His Essence. O brothers, it is not possible for a person to attribute a manner to the Essence of Allah.
Now, the animals, the fish, and the whales in the seas; are you able to describe the attribute of every fish? O Muhammad, the intimate friend of Allah, strive. Well, I ask you: it is not possible. Likewise, the Lord (Mighty and Majestic) it is not possible for you to attribute a manner to the attributes in any state of affairs. Do not attribute it, even in the mind. Do not imagine it, and not in your mind, because if you do, there will be likening Allah to creation in your self, and perhaps you will reach, and may Allah protect us, to denying the Creator (Mighty and Majestic). So be safe and you will be safe. Leave these estimations; do not attribute them in any state of affairs, for that is dangerous for your religion. Or by statement with the tongue: one person speaks about the manner and states it with his tongue; it is not permissible. Or by writing with what? With the hand, the finger, meaning writing. It is further removed from describing the manner absolutely. And a person cannot, for example, speak with his tongue about the manner of an attribute, nor can he write it. But Satan comes to him regarding what? The heart. Beware of this. Whenever it occurs to your heart, say: "I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan," in obedience to the command of Allah, because Allah says: And Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) did not guide us to this except because He knows (Mighty and Majestic) that this is the cure. Otherwise, Satan is eager. He whispered to your parents, so they disobeyed Allah in a command in which He forbade them Himself, regarding it, until they led them astray with delusion and swore to them, saying, "I am an advisor to you." Beware of this, beware of this, beware of this. What is this? Describing the manner in your heart. Keep this far from you and seek refuge in Allah from it if it occurs, if Satan casts it into your heart, so that you may be safe. Good.
