A Note on Those Who Said That Ibn 'Abbas Took from the Children of Israel

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Here is a note: some scholars of terminology, when giving examples of those who take from the Children of Israel, cite Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him). Yet Ibn 'Abbas is among the most severe in warning against taking from the Children of Israel, as stated in *Sahih al-Bukhari*, where he rebuked the Companions, saying:
How do you take from their reports when, by Allah, they will not return to what is in your Book? كيف تأخذون من حديثهم وهم والله لن يرجعوا إلى ما جاء في كتابكم
He denied this with the strongest denial. There is no doubt that some people may overlook a hadith that has been transmitted, even if they are an ocean in hadith. Do you understand? Because a person does not encompass all knowledge. Sometimes a hadith is denied in *Fath al-Bari*, and Ibn Hajar is sufficient in his knowledge, yet he himself mentions it in another place. We have examples of this, but they do not come to mind now; we only note them in the margin. He himself mentioned them and then said it was not transmitted. Therefore, we say that those who listed Ibn 'Abbas among those known for taking from the Children of Israel did not reach them the fact that Ibn 'Abbas denied taking from the Children of Israel.
