The Shaykh :"Second: It is said: The truth is either in what the Salaf said or in what others said" Correct. What is the evidence for this restriction? The evidence is the saying of Allah the Exalted: [Yunus 10:32] and His saying: [Saba 34:24] There is no third category.
"It is said: The truth is either in what the Salaf said or in what others said, and the second is false. What is the second? That the truth is in what others said. This is false. Why? Because it necessitates that the Salaf, from among the Companions and those who followed them in excellence, spoke falsehood explicitly or apparently, and did not speak the truth that must be believed, neither explicitly nor apparently, even once. This necessitates that they were either ignorant of the truth, not knowing about it, or knowledgeable of it but concealing it. Both are false. The falsity of the necessary consequence indicates the falsity of the necessitating premise, so it is established that the truth is in what the Salaf said, not in what others said".
It may have clear logical rational evidence. We say: The truth is either in what the Salaf said or in what others said, and it does not go beyond this. The evidence, as you heard, is[Yunus 10:32] [Saba 34:24] There is nothing other than this.
Second: That the truth is in what others said is false because it necessitates that all the Salaf spoke falsehood explicitly or apparently and remained silent about the truth, so they did not speak it, neither explicitly nor apparently. Did you understand, people, what is necessitated by this? It is necessitated that they were either ignorant of the truth, not knowing about it, or knowledgeable of it but concealing it. Both are false. How is it possible that the forefront of this Ummah did not know the truth regarding the names and attributes of Allah? This is impossible. Because if we assumed their ignorance, then those after them would be even more so, a fortiori. It is also impossible that they concealed the truth, given their eagerness to spread knowledge, bestow it, and strive to reach its people. So it is impossible that they concealed the truth. And how is it possible while they recite the saying of Allah the Exalted:[Al-Baqarah 2:159].
And what can be beyond truth except error?
فَمَاذَا بَعْدَ الْحَقِّ إِلَّا الضَّلَالُAnd indeed, we or you are either upon guidance or in clear error."
