The Shaykh : He said: "And know, yes 'And the implication of necessity is very beneficial for the student of knowledge if he reflects on the meaning and Allah the Exalted grants him understanding of it. What is the necessity? By that, one derives many issues from a single piece of evidence.' It is correct that the implication of necessity is among the most beneficial things for the student of knowledge. If a person is granted the ability to know the necessitated matters, he derives many issues from a single piece of evidence. Consequently, you will find that the scholars, (may Allah have mercy on them), differ in what a text indicates based on what they understand of the necessitated matters. Yes, and by this, knowing the necessitated matter also enables us to refute the statement of the people of innovation through the necessitated matter. For example, we say to the one who innovates: The necessity of your innovation is that the religion is incomplete and you have completed it. And Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Ma'idah 5:3].
Second: The necessity of your innovation is one of two things, and it is unavoidable: either the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) was ignorant that this is an act of worship, or he was aware of it and concealed it, is that not so? Yes. It follows from this, regarding this innovation, that the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had simplicity and negligence. How did they not perform it and not ask the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about it? These necessitated matters require that the innovation be invalid and very, very serious.
Regarding the rising above the Throne: If one denies the correct meaning of rising, which is being above, and says its meaning is dominion, what is the necessity of this? It is the falsification of the Qur'an, because he has diverted it from its apparent meaning without evidence. It is falsification.
Second: That the Throne, before Allah rose above it, was for someone else.
Third: That according to this principle, it is permissible for us to say that Allah rose above the mountains, and rose above the sands, and rose above the camels, and rose above everything, because He is the Owner of everything.
These false necessitated matters necessitate what? The invalidity of the necessitating matter. So the important thing is that understanding the necessitated matter is very important for the student of knowledge, both in affirmation and negation, and people differ.
"And know that what is necessitated by the saying of Allah the Exalted and the saying of His Messenger, (peace and blessings be upon him), if it is valid that it is necessitated, then it is truth. This is because the speech of Allah and His Messenger is truth, and what is necessitated by truth is truth. And because Allah the Exalted is aware of what is necessitated by His speech and the speech of His Messenger, so it is intended."
This is correct, my brothers. The necessitated matter from the saying of Allah and His Messenger, if it is valid that it is necessitated, then it is truth. An example of this: If someone says that it is necessitated by affirming the attribute of the Face for Allah the Glorious and Exalted that He is a body, we say: If this necessitated matter is necessitated, then it is truth. But we purify our tongues from saying that He is a body, or from denying that He is a body. And what is the harm if we say that Allah the Exalted is a Self that stands by itself, described by His attributes? What is the harm? Did you understand, people? Good.
So the principle is: The necessitated matter from the speech of Allah and His Messenger, if it is valid that it is necessitated, then it is truth.
Another example: Someone says to you: If you affirm that Allah speaks whenever He wills, it is necessitated that Allah is a created thing, because speech, if it is renewed, is a created thing, and a created thing does not exist except in a created thing?
We say: To the one who said this? This is a false necessitated matter, not a correct one. A created thing may be with one who is eternal and everlasting, because these are actions that follow wisdom. So it is not necessitated that Allah the Exalted is a created thing.
