One of them: that it is an innovated path upon which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) nor the Salaf of the Ummah and its imams were, and religious innovation is not repelled by religious innovation, but rather it is repelled

The Shaykh :"One of them: that it is an innovated path upon which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) nor the Salaf of the Ummah and its imams were, and religious innovation is not repelled by religious innovation, but rather it is repelled by the Sunnah" This is correct. It is not possible to repel falsehood with falsehood; rather, falsehood is repelled with truth. This is why those who went astray among the people who said, "We must hold celebrations and joy on the day of 'Ashura' against the Rafidah who display grief on this day," are mistaken. We say: If you want to repel religious innovation, repel it with the Sunnah; otherwise, you are being contradictory. Also, it is not possible to repel the opponent's argument with religious innovation.
"The second: that the Mu'tazilah and the Jahmiyyah can argue for what they denied against the Asha'irah and the Maturidiyyah with the same kind of argument that the Asha'irah and the Maturidiyyah used for what they denied against the people of the Sunnah"
The Asha'irah and the Maturidiyyah argued against the people of the Sunnah that affirming the attributes is contrary to reason and necessitates likening Allah to creation. The Mu'tazilah can say to the Asha'irah: "Your affirmation of the attributes you affirmed is also contrary to reason and necessitates likening Allah to creation." "And they say: You have permitted yourselves to deny the attributes you denied based on what you claimed was rational evidence, and you interpreted the textual evidence for them. So why do you forbid us from denying what we denied based on what we see as rational evidence and interpreting the textual evidence for it? We have minds just as you have minds. If our minds are wrong, how were your minds right? And if your minds are right, how are our minds wrong? You have no argument in rebuking us other than mere arbitrariness and following desires." Is this clear or not? Yes, good. May Allah help you and us to understand. He says: The Mu'tazilah are known for having denied the attributes in their entirety and said that Allah is not described with attributes. Can the Asha'irah argue against them? The answer is: No, because the Mu'tazilah and the Jahmiyyah will say, "You interpreted attributes that you thought reason did not indicate, such as what? Such as mercy, laughter, descending, coming, wonder, and the like. You say that reason does not indicate them. We also denied the attributes because reason does not indicate them, or indicates their negation. What is the difference between us and you? If you had affirmed all of them, you would have had an argument against us. If you had denied all of them, you would have agreed with us. But to affirm some and leave some on the basis of reason, we also affirm the names and do not affirm the attributes on the basis of reason. So why do you forbid us from denying what we denied and permit yourselves to deny the same? Is this anything but aggression? Aggression against people and contradiction in statements. If you have minds, we have minds. If our minds are wrong, your minds are wrong. If our minds are right, your minds are right. But to say our minds are right and your minds are wrong is not acceptable. He said: "This is a compelling argument and a valid refutation from the Jahmiyyah and the Mu'tazilah against the Asha'irah and the Maturidiyyah, and there is no refutation for it and no escape from it except by returning to the methodology of the Salaf, who close this door and affirm for Allah the Exalted of the names and attributes what He affirmed for Himself in His Book or on the tongue of His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), affirming without likening Allah to creation or asking how an attribute is, and purifying Him without denial of the divine attributes, distortion of a text's meaning, or
And he to whom Allah has not granted light - for him there is no light. ومن لم يجعل الله له نوراً فما له من نور
[An-Nur 24:40]
