The reciter: Ibrahim ibn Musa narrated to us, saying: Al-Walid ibn Muslim informed us, saying: Al-Awza'i narrated to us from Yahya ibn Abi Kathir from Abdullah ibn Abi Qatadah from his father, Abi Qatadah, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who said:

When I stand for prayer, I intend to prolong it but on hearing the cries of a child, I cut it short, as I dislike to trouble the child's mother.

إني لأقوم في الصلاة أريد أن أطول فيها فأسمع بكاء الصبي فأتجوز في صلاتي كراهية أن أشق على أمه
