Explanation of the Book of the Adhan-08a

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Muhammad ibn Bashshar narrated to us, saying: Ibn Abi 'Adi narrated to us from Sa'id from Qatadah from Anas ibn Malik from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who said:
Whenever I start the prayer I intend to prolong it, but on hearing the cries of a child, I cut short the prayer because I know that the cries of the child will incite its mother's passions. إني لأدخل في الصلاة فأريد إطالتها فأسمع بكاء الصبي فأتجوز مما أعلم من شدة وجد أمه من بكائه
Sahih al-Bukhari 710
And Musa said: Aban narrated to us, Qatadah narrated to us, Anas narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) the same.

The Shaykh : As you see, this hadith is a musnad (with a complete chain) from the hadith of Abu Qatadah and from the hadith of Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with them both). As for it being a musnad from the hadith of Abu Qatadah, that is in the first wording, from 'Abdullah ibn Abi Qatadah from his father Abu Qatadah from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). And as for it being a musnad from Abu Qatadah from Anas, he said: Qatadah narrated to us that Anas ibn Malik narrated to him that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) [said]... to the end of it. So it reached Abu Qatadah from two directions: the first direction without an intermediary from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the second direction with an intermediary.
