The reciter: Mu'adh ibn Asad narrated to us, saying: Al-Fadl ibn Musa informed me, saying: Sa'id ibn 'Ubayd al-Tai informed us from Bashir ibn Yasar al-Ansari from Anas ibn Malik that he arrived in Madinah and it was said to him: What have you found objectionable among us since the day you left the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)? He said: I have found nothing objectionable except that you do not straighten the rows. And 'Uqbah ibn 'Ubayd narrated from Bashir ibn Yasar that Anas ibn Malik arrived in Madinah with this.
The Shaykh : Al-Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him) affirmed that whoever does not straighten the rows is sinful, so he titled a chapter: "The Sin of One Who Does Not Straighten the Rows." Straightening the rows means completing them and performing them in the most perfect manner. This includes aligning them, filling the gaps, completing the first row before the second, and also not praying alone. Everything that contradicts straightening the rows is a contradiction of completing the rows.
