Explanation of the Book of Friday Prayer and the Two Festivals-04b

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Sa'id ibn Abi Maryam narrated to us, Abu Ghassan narrated to us, Abu Hazim narrated to me from Sahl ibn Sa'd, who said:
We used to offer the Jumua prayer with the Prophet (ﷺ) and then take the afternoon nap.كنا نصلي مع النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم الجمعة ثم تكون القائلة
Sahih al-Bukhari 941
.

The Shaykh : His statement:
Then the time for the midday nap would come. ثم تكون
If it is the former, it agrees with the first wording:
nor would we have a siesta, until after the Friday prayer. ما كنا نقيل إلا بعد الجمعة
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 525Sahih (Darussalam)
. If it is the latter, this indicates that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) would lead the prayer before the sun passed its zenith. Which of the two meanings is more appropriate: the meaning that agrees with the second wording previously explained, or the meaning that does not agree with it? The former. So we say the meaning is "then the midday nap would come from us," even if the time for the nap had already passed. Yes.

The questioner : ...

The Shaykh : Yes, and it does not matter; the point is the original intention.
