Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: "And indeed, it is in the Scriptures of the former ones. Was it not a sign for them that the scholars of the Children of Israel knew it..."

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :
And indeed, it is [mentioned] in the scriptures of former peoples.
[Ash-Shu'ara 26:196]
It, meaning the Qur'an,
the Scriptures of the former ones زبر الأولين
is in their Scriptures. The meaning, or what is intended, is that the Qur'an is mentioned in the previous Scriptures. This is to elevate its status, for it is a great book that the previous Scriptures praised, and it is right that they did so. The Qur'an is the noblest book that Allah revealed to the people of the earth. To whom? To the noblest Prophet that Allah sent to the people of the earth
And indeed, it is [mentioned] in the scriptures of former peoples.
[Ash-Shu'ara 26:196]
.
Then He, the Exalted, said:
And has it not been a sign to them that it is recognized by the scholars of the Children of Israel?
[Ash-Shu'ara 26:197]
. Is "sign" in the accusative or the nominative, my brothers? In the accusative? How is it in the accusative when "was" comes before it? Is the sign in the accusative or the nominative? How is it in the accusative when "was" comes before it? Yes, how do you parse it if it is in the accusative? Take a rest. Yes.
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : It is the name. Well done, may Allah reward you.
And has it not been أو لم يكن لهم
[Ash-Shu'ara 26:197]
means for the deniers.
a sign آية
means: a sign that it is the truth.
that they knew it أن يعلمه
By whom?
the scholars of the Children of Israel
The scholars of the Children of Israel, the rabbis who studied the Scriptures, know that the Qur'an is the truth. And they know the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) as they know their own sons, as Allah the Exalted said:
Those to whom We gave the Scripture know him as they know their own sons
[Al-Baqarah 2:146]
But they conceal the truth out of envy for the Arabs, that this great message should be among them.
And has it not been a sign to them that it is recognized by the scholars of the Children of Israel?
[Ash-Shu'ara 26:197]
.
In this is evidence of the virtue of knowledge, for Allah the Exalted cites the words of the scholars to establish the argument. And Allah the Exalted said:
Allah testifies that there is no god but He - and who? - and the angels and those of knowledge
. So you, O young Muslim, you must pursue knowledge. By knowledge, you are elevated in this world and the Hereafter. Knowledge is light for you and for the community. You must pursue knowledge. It is enough for you as a source of pride that Allah the Exalted paired the scholars with the angels in the testimony of the oneness of Allah alone.
Allah witnesses that there is no deity except Him, and [so do] the angels and those of knowledge
[Ali 'Imran 3:18]
, and here He says:
And has it not been a sign to them that it is recognized by the scholars of the Children of Israel?
[Ash-Shu'ara 26:197]
.
