The reciter: Praise be to Allah, and may the prayer and peace be upon the Messenger of Allah, and upon his family and his Companions, and whoever follows them.
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) said:
And from ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Amr ibn al-‘As, and Abu Hurayrah, and ‘A’ishah (may Allah be pleased with them all), they said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Woe to the heels because of Hell-fire.
Sunan Ibn Majah 453Sahih (Darussalam)
.

The Shaykh : Yes, this is a hadith narrated by three of the Companions, and it has a cause. Its cause is that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) was with his Companions on a journey, and the time for the ‘Asr prayer became tight for them, so they were performing wudu’ but not completing the washing of their feet. What is the foot? What is the foot? This? What is it? Speak about something the people can hear. Well done, perfect. The foot is the leg, so they were washing, and in order to hurry, yes, they were performing wudu’, and in order to hurry, they might leave part of their feet unwashed. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) called out with his loudest voice:
Woe to the heels because of Hell-fire.
Sunan Ibn Majah 453Sahih (Darussalam)
. The ‘aqib is the ‘irqub, the back of the foot.
Woe to the heels because of Hell-fire.
Sunan Ibn Majah 453Sahih (Darussalam)
. The word “wail” is mentioned frequently in the Noble Qur’an:
Woe to the cheaters
(4) So woe to those who pray (5) [But] who are heedless of their prayer -
[Al-Ma'un 107:4-5]
Woe to them for what their hands have written and woe to them for what they earn.
[Al-Baqarah 2:79]
It is mentioned frequently. So what is it? This word is a word of warning, a word of warning, meaning that a person is threatened with it. So the meaning of
Woe to the heels
is a warning for them from where? From the Fire, that they will be tortured in the Fire because the person did not wash them. And Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) commanded the washing of the feet, so He said:
O you who have believed, when you rise to [perform] prayer, wash your faces and your forearms to the elbows and wipe over your heads and wash your feet to the ankles
[Al-Ma'idah 5:6]
. So in this hadith there are benefits, among them:
