Continuation of the story of Dawud (peace be upon him).

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : I return to the story of Dawud. They climbed over the wall, meaning they entered his prayer niche through the wall. He was frightened of them. How was he frightened? The door was closed, so they came over the wall. He was frightened of them, as is the custom of humans.
They said, "Fear not. [We are] two adversaries قالوا لا تخف خصمان
[Sad 38:22]
meaning we are two litigants
one of whom has wronged the other, so judge between us with truth and do not exceed [it] and guide us to the sound path.
[Sad 38:22]
do not go beyond the truth, meaning do not be harsh with us.
Indeed this, my brother, has ninety-nine ewes
[Sad 38:23]
Look at the politeness of this litigant. He says, "This is my brother." We are litigants now, and we are Muslims arguing over something of this world. What does the litigant say? Yes, what? This wicked man ate my money, he wronged me, he did this. He says, "This is my brother." Is your opponent your brother or not? If he is a Muslim? Yes, he is your brother.
Indeed this, my brother, has ninety-nine
[Sad 38:23]
A ewe, and an ewe is a female sheep or a female of the sheep.
and I have one ewe; so he said, 'Entrust her to me,' ولي نعجة واحدة فقال أكفلنيها
[Sad 38:23]
meaning make me its guardian, meaning add it to my flock until it is complete. Say, everyone,
The student: One hundred.

The Shaykh : a hundred. So this one has no sheep, and this one has a hundred.
and he overpowered me in speech." وعزني في الخطاب
[Sad 38:23]
meaning it implies that he was eloquent.
he overpowered me عزني
meaning he overpowered me.
in speech في الخطاب
meaning he brought arguments that compelled me to submit to him. What did Dawud say? He said:
He has certainly wronged you in demanding your ewe [in addition] to his ewes
[Sad 38:24]
He believed the litigant without returning to his opponent. He has wronged you, and what caused Dawud, and what caused Dawud, and what caused Dawud, God knows best, was that he wanted to return to his worship, because he had locked himself in his prayer niche to devote himself to worship. So it was as if he wanted to resolve the matter quickly and say,
He has certainly wronged you in demanding your ewe [in addition] to his ewes. And indeed, many associates oppress one another, except for those who believe and do righteous deeds
[Sad 38:24]
for indeed some of them do not wrong one another, because each one of them speaks the truth, even if it is against himself.
