Mentioning the types of patience.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :
and advise one another to patience وتواصوا بالصبر
Or did He advise one another to be patient with what?
With obedience to Allah, refraining from disobedience to Allah, and with the decrees of Allah.
So patience is of three types: patience in obedience to Allah, because when you intend to obey, Satan and the soul that commands evil will whisper to you and discourage you. Be patient and perform the obedience.
Patience in refraining from disobedience to Allah. Satan also urges you to sins. So be patient and restrain yourself from them. It is only for hours, and then it will end.
Good. The third is patience with what? Ah, with the decrees of Allah. The decrees of Allah the Exalted include what is painful and what is agreeable. It includes what is painful and what is agreeable. For example, my brother, get up. For example, what is painful and what is agreeable among the decrees of Allah?
The student: The painful is like when Allah the Exalted afflicts a person with illness.

The Shaykh : Well done, like illness. What is the agreeable?
The student: Allah knows best, O Shaykh, that when Allah the Exalted afflicts a person with the loss of a loved one or something like that.

The Shaykh : No. The painful is the opposite of the agreeable.
The agreeable is the opposite of the painful. I mentioned that the painful is illness, and the agreeable is health. That is all. Poverty and wealth. Wealth is agreeable, and poverty is painful.
So patience with the decrees of Allah is for a person to be patient with the painful things that Allah has decreed for him. As for the agreeable ones, I do not need to say "be patient with them" because they are agreeable to nature.
Characterize yourself, my brother, with these four attributes and ask your Lord for steadfastness in them.
O Allah, grant us the attribute of possessing them and steadfastness in them, O Lord of the worlds, for You are capable of all things.
And with this ends what Allah the Exalted facilitated in speech regarding these two surahs. So let us now return to the lesson.
Next night, if Allah wills, there will be a lecture on Hajj and its related matters. It will be, if Allah wills, a concise ritual that a person follows from the time he begins his journey until he returns to his country. Yes.
