Is it permissible to take the righteous dead as a means to Allah the Exalted?

The Shaykh : If someone were to say, "I take them as a means," we would ask, "Well, what do you say so that we can know whether it is a means or a goal?" We find some people saying, "O so-and-so, O so-and-so, save me. O so-and-so, help me." A woman says, "O so-and-so, make me pregnant." What does "make me pregnant" mean? It means make me conceive, that is, make me carry a child. We have heard that some women go to some graves, sometimes rolling on the grave and sometimes asking the grave. We ask Allah for well-being. Did they take these graves as a means or a goal? A goal. They called upon them directly. So where is the means? Moreover, if these are among the righteous, the means is to seek nearness to Allah through loving them, because loving the righteous is a means of nearness to Allah the Majestic and Exalted. Does your love for them require you to go to their graves, or can you love them while you are far away? You can love them while you are far away. But unfortunately, those who claim to take the graves they call upon besides Allah as a means do not make them a means. Rather, they make them a goal, calling upon them besides Allah and believing that they are the ones who benefit. Glory be to Allah the Great. Satan has prevented them from the truth, because the One who benefits and gives you what you want—yes, who is He? Allah the Majestic and Exalted. [Ghafir 40:60] [Al-Baqarah 2:186]. For this reason, I assert with certainty, without any doubt in my mind, that those whose hearts are attached to the people of the graves have turned their hearts away from Allah, because the heart cannot have two directions; it has only one direction. If this man, when hardship strikes him, calls out, "O so-and-so, O so-and-so," this necessarily means he is turning away from Allah. Why does he not say, instead of "O so-and-so, O so-and-so," "O Allah, O Lord, O Ever-Living, O Sustainer, O Possessor of Majesty and Honor"?
