Explaining the Obligation to Return to the Truth

The Shaykh : I say that establishing tawhid (the oneness of Allah) is a difficult matter, especially for one who has lived in lands where there are defects in this regard. However, the believer, in truth, returns to the truth wherever it is. The truth is the believer’s lost property; wherever he finds it, he takes it. It is not permissible for a person, when the truth is presented to him, to say, “We found our fathers upon a nation.” Who said this? It was the words of the enemies of the messengers who rejected what the messengers brought by saying: [Az-Zukhruf 43:22] or . So the believer says, “Where is the truth? I will follow it.” And if we look at the guidance of the Companions, the Rightly Guided Caliphs and those after them, and the Tabi'un (the generation after the Companions) and the imams of the Muslim community, we find that when the truth became clear to them, they returned to it, even if they had previously said the opposite.
Now, if Allah wills, we move to the questions, and we ask Allah to grant us success in the correct answer.
