Does movement while forgetting invalidate the prayer, and does deliberate simple movement invalidate the prayer, and how many movements invalidate the prayer?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : This is a listener from the Arab Republic of Egypt asking: Does movement while forgetting invalidate the prayer? Does deliberate simple movement invalidate the prayer? And how many movements invalidate the prayer?

The Shaykh : Yes. So we say: regarding the statement "movement while forgetting," movement is not considered in terms of forgetfulness, intention, or remembrance, and this has been detailed previously.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Likewise, regarding the statement "how many movements," we say that there is no specific number.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : As for the scholars who said that what exceeds three is a great deal of movement, this is not correct. Rather, the slight movement is that which does not contradict the prayer, and the great deal is that which, if a person sees the one praying, he would say, "This is not in prayer; if he were in prayer, he would not move this way." So the great deal is what contradicts the prayer, meaning that if you saw this person praying and his movements, you would say that he is not praying. This is the great deal. As for the slight movement, it has been established from what came before that if it is for a need, there is no harm in it, and if it is without a need, it is disliked.

The questioner : Very well.
