If one fasts a day to make up for Ramadan, is it permissible for him to break it?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : For example, a man fasted this day, which was Thursday, and intended it as a make-up fast for a day of Ramadan. Is it forbidden for him to break this intention during the day?

The Shaykh : He says: A man began fasting to make up for Ramadan. Is it permissible for him to break this fast during the day?
The answer is: It is not permissible. I will give you a useful rule: "Whoever begins an obligatory act is forbidden from breaking it except for a Shari'ah excuse that permits breaking it". So, if one begins making up for Ramadan, it is obligatory for him to complete the day, and it is not permissible for him to break it. If one begins an obligatory prayer, it is obligatory for him to complete it, and it is not permissible to break it. And so on. If he has already done so, he must repent and perform its substitute, which is a day. Yes.
