A woman who has days to make up from Ramadan, and on one of the days her family wanted to go on a trip, so she said

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
A woman asks, saying: A woman has days to make up from Ramadan, and on one of the days her family wanted to go on a trip, so she said: I will intend to fast, and if they go on the trip, I will break my fast, and if they do not go, I will complete my fast. The question is: Is this intention permissible for her, since her fasting is making up for Ramadan and not voluntary? Knowing that she broke her fast on that day while ignorant of the ruling and went with her family on the trip. And is making up Ramadan like Ramadan regarding the permissibility of breaking the fast or not?

The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds. When a person begins making up Ramadan, it is not permissible for him to break his fast, because it is obligatory. And whoever begins an obligatory act, it is not permissible for him to leave it except for a valid religious excuse. This is a principle among the scholars: "Whoever enters into an obligatory act, it is not permissible for him to break it except for a valid religious excuse". Therefore, if you begin the prayer and then want to break it, is it permissible? It is not permissible. If you begin making up Ramadan and want to break it during the day, it is not permissible, because you have begun an obligatory act. If you begin fasting a vow, is it permissible to break it? No. And the principle now, take it with you: "Whoever enters into an obligatory act, it is not permissible" what? "for him to break it except for a valid religious excuse". This questioner says that her family wants to go on a trip, and that she fasted on the condition that if they decided to do so and went on the trip, she would invalidate the fast. We say that if she had remained fasting, it would have been better for her. But since she broke this fast in order to accompany her family on their trip, she must repent to Allah, and not return to such an action, and she must make up for this day that she broke.
