What is the ruling on a person who sits with a group, and the time for prayer arrives, and he does not observe in them any eagerness to perform the prayer in congregation?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : This is a question from a listener, M.K., who says: O honorable Shaykh, what is the ruling on a person who sits with a group, and the time for prayer arrives, and he does not observe in them any eagerness to perform the prayer in congregation? Please inform us of this, and may you be rewarded.

The Shaykh : We see that one should not sit with such people at the time of congregational prayer, because these are companions of evil. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The companion of evil is like the bellows of the blacksmith: either he burns your clothes, or you find a foul smell from him. مثل الجليس السوء كنافخ الكير إما أن يُحرق ثيابك وإما أن تجد منه رائحة كريهة
Sahih Ibn Hibban 6:255
It is also narrated from him (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) that he said:
A man is upon the religion of his close friend, so let one of you look at whom he befriends. المرء على دين خليله فلينظر أحدكم من يُخالل
Al-Mustadrak lil-Hakim 33:79
Therefore, it is not permissible to sit with these people who do not pray in congregation. However, it is obligatory for him to advise them, warn them of Allah, and say to them, "Fear Allah in yourselves," and the like of that. Perhaps Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) will guide them through his hand. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah bless you.
