Voluntary prayers during the day: Is it prescribed to be four rak'ahs with a single taslim?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : The saying of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him):
May Allah have mercy on a man who prays four rak'ahs before the 'Asr prayer. رحم الله امرءً صلى قبل العصر أربعًا
: If the description of the prayer is four rak'ahs with a single taslim?

The Shaykh : First, may Allah reward you, this hadith is a matter of discussion among the scholars of hadith; some of them criticized it and said: it is not authentic.
Second: even if it were authentic, it is necessary to pray two rak'ahs and then two rak'ahs, based on the hadith:
Prayer by night and day should consist of pairs of rak'ahs. صلاة الليل والنهار مثنى مثنى
Sunan Abi Dawud 1295Sahih (Al-Albani)
So, based on this, we say: every hadith that mentions four, for example, means four with two taslims.
