The ruling on praying four rak'ahs as the greeting of the mosque

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
I have seen some people, when they enter the mosque, pray four consecutive rak'ahs with a single taslim as the greeting of the mosque. Is this correct, or is the greeting of the mosque only two rak'ahs?

Answer:
This is contrary to the Sunnah. The Sunnah is only two rak'ahs. As for praying all four together, that is contrary to the Sunnah. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Prayer by night and day should consist of pairs of rak'ahs.صلاة الليل والنهار مثنى مثنى
Sunan Abi Dawud 1295Sahih (Al-Albani)
So the Sunnah, when one enters the mosque, is to pray two rak'ahs and say the taslim from them. If he wishes to pray more, there is no harm, but he should say the taslim from every two rak'ahs. This is the best, whether in the day or in the night. This is emphasized, and it is not permissible to combine four rak'ahs with a single taslim; rather, he should say the taslim from every two. Yes.
