Review of the exegesis of the statement of Allah the Exalted: “And He taught Adam the names, all of them. Then He presented them to the angels and said, ‘Inform me of the names of these, if you are truthful’ (31)”

The Shaykh : I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Shaytan. Allah the Exalted said, after mentioning that He taught Adam all the names, meaning He presented the named things, as evidenced by the fact that He did not say “then He presented them” (feminine). If the pronoun had referred to the names, He would have said “He presented them” (feminine). Also, He said: which indicates that what was presented were the named things. He said: [Al-Baqarah 2:31] So here, knowledge preceded to Adam, while the angels were ignorant, so that Allah the Mighty and Majestic would show them the virtue of Adam (peace and blessings be upon him). He said: [Al-Baqarah 2:31-32] and the discussion of this and the explanation of its benefits has preceded.
