The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The water of Zamzam is for whatever it is drunk for." Do you make du'a before you drink?

The questioner : Peace be upon you.
I say, O Shaykh: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The water of Zamzam is for whatever it is drunk for. ماء زمزم لما شرب له
Sunan Ibn Majah 3062Hasan (Darussalam)
.

The Shaykh : He said, he said, repeat, repeat.

The questioner : The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said.

The Shaykh : We did not understand (peace and blessings be upon him) between them.

The questioner : The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The water of Zamzam is for whatever it is drunk for. ماء زمزم لما شرب له
Sunan Ibn Majah 3062Hasan (Darussalam)
.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : Some people say: You make du'a before you drink. Is there a basis for this, or is there no basis for it?

The Shaykh : The hadith
The water of Zamzam is for whatever it is drunk for. ماء زمزم لما شرب له
Sunan Ibn Majah 3062Hasan (Darussalam)
is a good hadith, but what is the meaning of his saying:
for what purpose he drank it لما شرب له
Does it mean generality, such that if a person drinks it to become a scholar, he becomes a scholar, or to become a merchant, he becomes a merchant? Or is the intended meaning
for what purpose he drank it لما شرب له
only that which the body is nourished with, meaning that if you drink it to quench thirst, you are satisfied, or to remove hunger, you are filled?
The hadith is not explicit that it is for whatever it is drunk for, even if it is outside the body. So what appears to me, and Allah knows best, is that the water of Zamzam is for whatever it is drunk for from that which the body is nourished with, meaning that if you rely on it instead of food, it suffices you, and instead of drink, it suffices you. As for making du'a when drinking it, many scholars have recommended that one calls upon Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) when drinking it. Yes.
