A man settled in a country other than his own and intended to stay permanently; what is the ruling on shortening his prayer when he visits his original country?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : His EminenceThe Shaykh : If a person travels from his family and has the intention of not returning to their country, and he resides in a country far from their country with the intention of settling there, and then he returns to his family as a visitor, is he considered a traveler or not?

The Shaykh : If a person leaves his original homeland with the intention of settling in the second country, then when he returns to his original homeland, he is a traveler as long as he remains with his original intention. The evidence for this is that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) had Mecca as his original homeland, and when he conquered Mecca, he shortened his prayer, and he also shortened his prayer during the Farewell Pilgrimage. Yes, that is correct.

The questioner : O Shaykh, what if his wife and children are in this same country, his original homeland?

The Shaykh : Yes, even if his wife and children are there.
